You Stood by us and Glorified God
“May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, “The LORD be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.’” Psalm 35:27
When I think of my believing brothers and sisters reading this, especially those that have walked with us through the birth of Anna and the death of Simon, can I get an Amen to this verse? Not only are we asked to look for the good coming from these things; Can we also be expectant that the Lord is preparing revenge? working to vindicate all who have been wronged by the powers of darkness -creation itself? In the spirit world (which coincides with our physical world) Satan and his forces of darkness robbed us, killed, and tried to destroy us and our faith. Four years have past, there is no normalcy to my faith life. My devotions and spiritual disciplines have been rattled. Yet I press in, not out. I don’t understand how our Lord, my Father, granted permissiveness of these events. Isn’t He protector? except when contextually He doesn’t. Isn’t He healer? except when circumstantially He doesn’t. I know He doesn’t owe me an explanation because I fear Him. What possible greater good can come from such trials especially when I continue on in a trembling faith? Questions like what’s God’s will for my life? And, “God told me” statements once so relevant and now seem less important. Goals elude, thankfulness heals, just one day at a time, faith for today!
Faith informs me to trust, to grasp Jesus at His Word. He purposes those instances for His glory and our good. When I think or the Second Coming, the Lion, I sum it up in one Word: Vindication. All the goodness of creation will be vindicated. Until then, Satan may win an occasional battle in my life. But the war for my soul was settled when Jesus went to the cross on my behalf. Jesus won, He wins me over with His Word living in me. His promises are true. I live with expectant vindication from my God regarding the greatest losses I’ve endured -an eternal compensation when it pleases Him. This allows me to let go, to live with His joy, and to look for His good stemming from these things. In His time He vindicates! “Revenge is mine, I will repay declares the Lord!” If I didn’t have Jesus, I would have a dead son, lame daughter and runaway emotions about it all. May I be like this hymn:
“I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I'd rather be His than have riches untold;
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands.
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand.”
In reading the Psalm 35:27 verse again, the birth of Sarah causes me to exalt the Lord in the sense that Satan and the demonic tried their best to gift us a future of wreckage and devastation yet it is Jesus, our Shepherd who continues to prosper us in the land of the living and give us pleasant boundary lines. Hallelujah, what a gift of life Sarah Esperanza is!
